Wednesday Feb 10th Picks

Hey there guys,
It was a pretty good day for me yesterday as I went 2-0 in SEC Basketball with Vanderbilt grabbing a huge lead on Tennessee in the 1st half and keeping it that way as Beal had another big game, and then Kentucky relied on defense to hold off a Crimson Tide team that looked like it wanted to play a full 40 minutes. In the NBA I went 8-3 as Atlanta won a big one on the road at Memphis and Denver, fueled by the return of Carmelo Anthony, blew out Dallas by 36 points. In the NHL I went 4-3. Today we have some solid NBA games, with Boston playing on the road at New Orleans, Orlando traveling to Chicago, the Lakers taking on the Jazz in Utah, and even the Clippers at the Warriors looking like a pretty good game. There are also some pretty good NHL games along with a few SEC Basketball games, LSU @ Arkansas, Florida @ South Carolina, and Georgia @ Auburn.

SEC Men's Basketball

LSU 9-14 (0-9) @ Arkansas 12-11 (5-3)
7:00p,
TV: ESPN 360
Line: Ark -7.5

Players to Watch: LSU G Bo Spencer 15.5ppg 2.9apg 1.0spg, LSU F Tasmin Mitchell 17.3ppg 9.6rpg 0.4bpg, LSU F Storm Warren 12.2ppg 7.5rpg 1.4bpg Ark G Rotnei Clarke 16.5ppg 1.4apg 1.0spg, Ark F Marshawn Powell 15.3ppg 6.9rpg 1.3bpg

Preview: Arkansas has won 4 in a row, and LSU is 0-9 in SEC play. The Bayou Bengals have played some fairly decent defense all year long but their lack of offense has been troubling all throughout the season. I think veteran F Tasmin Mitchell and Storm Warren are going to give Hog Freshman Marshawn Powell a run for his money down low but I just don't see Bo Spencer and Chris Bass being able to guard Courtney Fortson and Rotnei Clarke.

Florida 17-6 (6-3) @ South Carolina 13-9 (4-4)
7:00pm
TV: ESPN 360
Line: SC -2.5

Players to Watch: Flo G Erving Walker 12.9ppg 5.1apg 1.6spg, Flo F Alex Tyus 12.9ppg 6.9rpg 0.9bpg SC G Devan Downey 23.0ppg 3.5apg 3.0spg

Preview: I'll be honest I think Florida is one of, if not, the hottest team in the SEC right now after a road win at Bama and than taking care of Miss State at home this past week, but if there is one thing that South Carolina does well its defend their home court. And after Florida got a lucky last second 3 pointer to beat the Gamecocks last time around I expect South Carolina to come out ready to win round 2.

South Carolina by 1

Georgia 10-11 (2-6) @ Auburn 11-12 (2-6)
8:00pm
TV: ESPN 360
Line: Aub -4

Players to Watch: UGA F Trey Thompkins 17.5ppg 7.8rpg 1.1bpg, Aub G DeWayne Reed 16.0ppg 4.4apg 1.5spg, Aub F Lucas Hargrove 13.3ppg 7.1rpg 0.5bpg

Preview: Georgia's strength is rebounding. Auburn's weakness is rebounding. Normally I would continue on from here and give my reasons as to why I think Georgia would destroy Auburn. But Georgia has not played well on the road the past two seasons and Auburn, despite their absent crowd, is a fairly good home team. I like Auburn in a tight battle.
