Hey there guys,
I realize that we are already past the Mid Season but I think the All-Star game is an appropriate time to do this. Anyway below are my Mid Season MVP, Rookie of the Year, Defensive Player of the Year, Coach of the Year, All NBA 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th teams, and who I think are really the best in each conference. As always guys let me know what you think.
MVP: Lebron James, SF, Cleveland Cavaliers
Lebron is just having a ridiculous year averaging 29.9ppg 7.1rpg 8.3apg and is also getting it done on defense leading his team in steals per game and is second on the Cavs in blocks per game. This award goes to the most valuable player. The Lakers just won 3 games in a row without Kobe. The Cavaliers have the best record in the NBA because of Lebron James. Without him they aren't even in playoff contention.
Honorable mention: Dwayne Wade (Mia)
Rookie of the Year: Tyreke Evans, PG, Sacramento Kings
I couldn't decide between Evans and Milwaukee PG Brandon Jennings for the longest time but in the end I went with the consistency of Evans who is averaging 20.3ppg 5.1apg and is also doing better on the defensive end averaging 1.6 steals per game. Both Evans and Jennings are going to be great guards and are probably each just a piece or two away from leading their teams to the playoffs.
Honorable Mention: Brandon Jennings (Mil)
Defensive Player of the Year: Dwight Howard, C, Orlando Magic
No question. Howard, with his 1.1 steals per game and NBA leading 2.7 blocks per game, is easily the most feared defender in the league. Add in his NBA leading 9.8 defensive rebounds per game. No one else comes close.
Honorable Mention: Josh Smith (Atl)
Coach of the Year: Mike Brown, Cleveland Cavaliers
Once again the Cavaliers are at the top of the NBA with the best record. Back to back years like that are hard to do so I have to give Mr. Brown props. I know everyone is saying "well he has Lebron James". Ok. But who else. Is Lebron James SO good that he alone can take a team to the best record in the NBA? No. And don't tell me that Shaq is his other guy. Shaq barely averages playing half a game, and is nowhere near as dominant as he used to be. Oh and Mr. Brown didn't have the Diesel last year.
Honorable Mention: Scott Brooks (OKC)
