Hey there guys,
Yesterday was not so hot of a day for me as I went 2-2 in the SEC, as Alabama had a great 2ND HALF, for the first time this season, as they took out South Carolina in Columbia, Tennessee had a bit of a hangover but they held on to beat Arkansas 80-73, Auburn took a big bite out of Mississippi State's NCAA Tournament hopes as they upset the Dogs 89-80, and Kentucky played a great second half as they covered against Georgia 80-68. I did go 10-2 in the NBA as Amare Stoudemire continued his hot streak as he had yet another double double (30pts 14rbs) as the Suns took out the Clippers by 26, LeBron's 26 points and 14 assists helped the Cavaliers take out the terrible Nets, and the Knicks took out the Pistons behind underrated Center David Lee's 21 points and 18 rebounds. In the NHL I went 3-3 as Niklas Backstrom shut out Calgary as Minnesota won 4-0, the Panthers beat the Flyers in a 7-4 shootout behind David Booth's and Bryan McCabe's 4 points (each had 1 goal and 3 assists). I don't have much on my mind today as I have been working on finishing up the SEC Recruiting Recap (I have finally have a working computer) and I have also been preparing my NFL Draft Position Rankings and my first ever NFL Mock Draft. Today there is another game that will be significant towards a Mississippi teams chances of getting in the NCAA Tourney as they face the Tigers. LSU travels to Ole Miss. Should be interesting as LSU and Ole Miss always play great games in all sports. There are a couple of good games in a short NBA day as well as the Lakers head to Miami to take on Dwayne Wade and the Heat, and two hot West teams face off as Utah heads to Phoenix in what should be a great game to watch. In the NHL there are some good games as well as the Maple Leafs, and their relatively new roster, head to Boston to take on the Bruins and Sidney Crosby heads to New York as the Penguins take on the Rangers. Hope you guys enjoy.
My Thoughts.....
-NCAA Basketball, Yesterday's Games
Well how about those games yesterday? So much happened that is going to mean a lot when it comes time for selection Sunday. As far as the big ranking match ups are concerned the 4th #1 seed in the tourney is now just a toss up as #4 Duke lost at #23 Maryland 79-72 and #5 Kansas State lost BIG at #2 Kansas 82-65. Now I am really leaning toward Duke as the last #1 seed but there really is no clear choice for that spot, Duke is really iffy and a lot of people are going to look at their loss to NC State and getting destroyed by the schizophrenic Georgetown, while Kansas State needs a signature win to help their chances. Without Robbie Hummell Purdue is definitely not going to get it and I don't know that Ohio State has the resume. It is really going to depend on how K State and Duke do in their respective conference tournaments. Whoever does the best their will easily grab that #1 seed. If both teams lose early and Ohio Sate wins the Big Ten conference tournament than Ohio State will get it. I don't know but it should be interesting to watch how the next week and a half plays out. There was another great game with UCONN heading to Notre Dame, and while many think the loser is out, I think UCONN, who lost 58-50, still has a pretty good shot at getting in, didn't HAVE TO WIN. I thought the pressure was more on Notre Dame and they came through. That will make for some interesting talk come a week from Sunday. In a couple of other interesting Bubble Games we got to see some bubbles getting burst as Saint Louis fell just short of upsetting Temple, and the Billikens needed to keep on winning if they wanted to get in, and then Auburn took out Mississippi State in Auburn, and the Bulldogs were another team that probably needed to keep winning if they wanted to get in, and a loss to RPI 148 Auburn is not going to get them in.
As far as this whole debate about expanding the NCAA Tournament, it shouldn't be a debate. This is the dumbest idea I have ever heard. Other than money I want someone to give me a reason why this is a good idea? This is the best thing in SPORTS. I don't know of anything else that is formatted better in any sporting event EVER. The lowest seed to ever reach (and eventually win) the finals was #8 seed Villanova in 1985! What chance do 31 more teams have? No #16 seed has ever beaten a #1 and you want to add 31 more? This is ridiculous. I am sorry but this is a tournament to find out the NATIONAL CHAMPION and look at the bubble teams right now and tell me which one has a shot to win? Louisville? UCONN? Seton Hall? Ole Miss? Mississippi State? Saint Louis? UAB? Rhode Island? This is ridiculous and whoever thought this was a good idea should lose their job.
My Picks.....

Preview: For the second time in as many days a Mississippi team has to play a low RPI Tigers to keep up their hopes of maybe making the NCAA Tournament. Yesterday Mississippi State lost at Auburn and tonight Ole Miss hosts LSU in what is always a close game. Ole Miss fans love to come out when LSU is in town so, and I expect Ole Miss to be playing with some sort of urgency as a win tonight will give them a 1 game lead on the #2 spot, and a bye in the SEC Tournament. LSU has a pretty solid set of starters but no depth, so If Ole Miss can keep a solid lead in the second half, usually their best half, then they should come out as the winners.
