Hey there guys,
Yesterday was just another one of those not so hot not so cold days for me. In the NCAA Tournament I went 5-3 again, to get my record to a nice 34-14 for the entire tournament, tied even with Mr. President himself (plus I'm 3 ahead of my mom and 6 ahead of my dad ha ha), anyway, but I only lost 6 of my sweet sixteen teams, have 7 of of my Elite Eight, and 3 of my Final Four still playing basketball. Here's to hoping that I don't lose another (cheers). Anyway as far as SEC Baseball is related I went 4-2 yesterday (15-3 for the weekend) as South Carolina, Auburn, and Florida completed their sweeps while Ole Miss, LSU, and Alabama won their series this weekend. SEC Baseball Power Rankings to come out later today with my other Power Rankings. In the NBA I went 5-2 (3-4 ats) as David Lee lead his team in Points (26) Rebounds (20) and Assists (6) and had an outstanding game BUT the Knicks still couldn't pull out the W as the Rockets won 116-112, and the same went for Tim Duncan (26 points 13 rebounds) and Manu Ginobli (38 points) as the Spurs fell 5 short in Atlanta. In the NHL I went 6-3 as Teemu Selanne had yet another good day (1 goal 1 assist), scoring his 600th career goal as the Ducks pulled out a 5-2 win over the Avalanche, and then the Thrashers upset the Flyers in Philadelphia 3-1 behind the great goalie play of Ondrej Pavelec (44 saves) and D Ron Hainsey's 3 points (1 goal 2 assists). Well today I will be working on my power rankings, but as far as games go there are no Tournament games for the next 3 days, as they pick up with the Sweet Sixteen on Thursday, but in the NBA there are some great games, I mean really good as two teams trying to fight their way back into the playoff picture, Rockets & Bulls, play in Chicago, the two teams fighting for that 4th seed in the Eastern Conference, Bucks & Hawks, play in Milwaukee, the Spurs and the Thunder try to get back on track after each suffered rough road losses yesterday, Boston tries to keep up its great play by traveling to Salt Lake City to take on the Jazz, and the Grizzlies try to keep their minuscule playoff hopes alive by playing at deceptively tough Sacramento. In the NHL there are only 3 games but I will be watching how Detroit plays tonight as they are now 8th seed in the Western Conference but the Flames are only 2 points behind, and the Red Wings host a very good Pittsburgh Penguins team tonight, the winner of tonight's game between Ottawa and Montreal will hold a solid 2 point lead of the #5 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs, and if Colorado can pull the upset tonight in LA they could leap frog the Kings in terms of playoff seeding. Should be fun. Hope you guys enjoy.
My Picks.....
NBA
*Game(s) of the Day*
hawks @ BUCKS (-4.5) by 1
Preview: When I look at both teams I immediately like Atlanta here. Johnson, Smith, and Horford with Bibby running the point just seem like a great group especially going against Bogut and rookie Jennings. But good god is Bogut good. Milwaukee is going to have to get him going more against the Hawks this time if they want a more comfortable win, as in their last meeting, in Atlanta, a 106-102 win for the Hawks, Bogut only scored 14. The bucks also need to make sure they keep themselves out of foul troube, Atlanta is not an overwhelming free throw shooting team but with Milwaukee 27th in the NBA in the opponents free throw attempts a game without foul trouble would certainly be nice. Still despite Atlanta looking like the much better team I like Milwaukee at home, where they have been one of the Best in the NBA this season.
spurs @ THUNDER (-4.5) by 2
Preview: When these two teams have matched up this season fans have been in for some great games as the average Margin of Victory is by 4 points! San Antonio holds the series lead 2-1 so far but Oklahoma City looks to even the series tonight. When looking at the 3 previous meetings one thing is VERY clear. Whoever wins in the Paint wins the game. And to be honest as much as I love the Thunder the Spurs are much better at playing in the Paint with DeJuan Blair, and Tim Duncan. Still the Thunder are solid at home and Kevin Durant has been known to just take over games. If the Spurs can find a way to stop Russell Westbrook, who averages 20.3 points against the Spurs this season, and averages +8 in the Asst/TO ratio in their 3 games, than the Spurs can definitely have a chance to win this game. I expect this game to go against the trend and while the Spurs will win in the paint the Thunder will take one in the end after another monster performance by the more athletic Durantula.
