2010 Week 13 SEC

Florida QB/TE Jordan Reed

Hey there guys,

Sorry for how late this is, but I have been working all week, while developing a Power Ranking, and it is Thanksgiving week after all.

Anyway for this week there won't be much writing, as I am getting this up late.

But I hope you enjoy nonetheless.

Here goes

SEC

Saturday Nov. 27th

Kentucky @ Tennessee

With bowl eligibility on the line I expect the Volunteers to come out playing hard on Senior Night.  Even though it is a night for Seniors I am expecting a big night from Junior Running Back Tauren Poole, (85.0 yds/game 5.3 yds/att 10td) as he will going up against my #12 (SEC) rushing defense.  Frosh QB Tyler Bray should also have another big game as well.  UT goes bowling.

My Pick: Tennessee 35 Kentucky 27
Proj Pass: Tennessee 252.9 yards (7.2 ypa) / Kentucky 252.3 yards (7.3 ypa)
Proj Rush: Tennessee 179.5 yards (4.5 ypa) / Kentucky: 161.6 yards (4.4 ypa)

#5 LSU @ #12 Arkansas

The Battle for the Golden Boot means a lot for each team's postseason hopes.  With a win LSU figures to take the Sugar Bowl, should Auburn make the National Championship game, but with a loss they could fall as far to the Cotton Bowl.  With a win Arkansas could be an at-large BCS Bid (if Auburn makes BCSNC), and at the very worst make the Capitol One Bowl.  With a loss, they would fall to the Cotton Bowl, maybe even down to the Chick-Fil-A Bowl.  LSU's defense has not been playing as well since the Auburn loss, but they still are filled with talent at every level with CB Patrick Peterson, LB Kelvin Shepard, and DT Drake Nevis.  Offensively they have playing very well recently with 400+ yard performances against Alabama and Ole Miss in their last two outings.  I have to be honest, it is hard going against the Hat, and I wonder how much Arkansas has left in the tank after playing double overtime last week.

My Pick: LSU 31 Arkansas 28 (<--- UPSET)
Proj Pass: LSU 191.1 yards (7.1 ypa) / Arkansas 273.5 yards (7.4 ypa)
Proj Rush: LSU 205.6 yards (4.5  ypa) / Arkansas 156.1 yards (4.5 ypa)

Florida @ #22 Florida St

This is the first game between Florida and FSU that won't be touched by Tebow in the last four seasons.  I have to wonder how much the Seminoles will be paying attention to this game, as at the exact same time, NC State will be playing Maryland, and if the Wolfpack win then the Seminoles will be out of the ACC Championship game.  Florida has not had much go there way as far as offense this season, but I do think they can get something going against the Seminoles this weekend.  QB Jordan Reed has played really well in the last few games and I expect him to have another decent day and for the Gators defense to play at a high level.

My Pick: Florida 28 Florida State 27 (<--- UPSET)
Proj Pass: Florida 221.2 yards (6.5 ypa) / Florida State 196.1 yards (6.5 ypa)
Proj Rush: Florida 140.8 yards (3.5 ypa) / Florida State 152.0 yards (4.1 ypa)

#25 Mississippi State @ Ole Miss

The Egg Bowl.  While I have done well picking the Iron Bowl (except for this season), I have been awful with the Egg Bowl.  The Rebel's secondary has been horrendous, but Mississippi St's Passing offense has been equally horrendous, completing just 52% of their passes and going -6 in the TD/Int Ratio.  MSU has a QB Rating of under 100 as well.  I expect the Rebels to be playing balls to the wall as this is the last game of the season for them, and they are wanting revenge after being spanked in Starkville last season.  The Home Team has won 10 of the last 11 in the Egg Bowl and I expect that trend to continue. Call me a homer if it makes you feel better, but I feel like Miss State will be looking ahead to their 2nd bowl game of the last decade.

My Pick: Ole Miss 34 Miss St 31 (<--- UPSET)
Proj Pass: Ole Miss 200.8 yards (7.5 ypa) / Miss St 184.3 yards (7.4 ypa)
Proj Rush: Ole Miss 181.4 yards (4.5 ypa) / Miss St 205.3 yards (4.8 ypa)

#18 South Carolina @ Clemson

Speaking of looking ahead, I am expecting the Gamecocks to be looking ahead to a rematch with the #2 team in the country in Auburn next weekend.  A game where they had a 6 point lead in the 4th quarter in Auburn.  They think they can win.  It is also going to be South Carolina's first ever SEC Championship appearance.  South Carolina upset Clemson last season in a similar situation, and I expect the Tigers to do the same here, except this time in reverse.

My Pick: Clemson 24 South Carolina 20 (<--- UPSET)
Proj Pass: Clemson 229.2 yards (6.8 ypa) / South Carolina 198.3 yards (7.5 ypa)
Proj Rush: Clemson 132.9 yards (3.4 ypa) / South Carolina 140.6 yards (3.7 ypa)

Wake Forest @ Vanderbilt

This game means nothing but pride.  Vandy is having a mini QB controversy right now, but I don't think it will matter.  As bad as Vandy has been this season Wake Forest has been worse, especially on the road where they are losing games at an impressive rate of 12.8 - 50.4.  I like for Vandy to close out the season with a win for Robbie Caldwell who is fighting for his job.

My Pick: Vanderbilt 31 Wake Forest 21
Proj Pass: Vanderbilt 232.0 yards (7.3 ypa) / Wake Forest 136.0 yards (6.4 ypa)
Proj rush: Vanderbilt 182.9 yards (4.4 ypa) / Wake Forest 122.2 yards (4.0 ypa)

Georgia Tech @ Georgia

Georgia needs a win to grab bowl eligibility while Todd Grantham, a Pro Guy up until this season, is going to be introduced to a little thing called the triple option.  Even though operated by a backup Georgia Tech can run it to perfection under HC Paul Johnson, and if it is your first time facing it, then it is also your worst.  I expect for Georgia to struggle for a little bit but frosh QB Aaron Murray tears apart the Yellow Jackets secondary with his multitude of talented targets and the Bulldogs go bowling.

My Pick: Georgia 34 Georgia Tech 21
Proj Pass: Georgia 267.2 yards (7.7 ypa) / Georgia Tech 93.3 yards (7.7 ypa)
Proj Rush: Georgia 197.7 yards (4.4 ypa) / Georgia Tech 168.4 (4.1 ypa)
