#FullCourtPress Semi's 'n stuffs
Hey there guys,
This has been an interesting tournament so far with some upsets (UGA over State; Miss over UTenn) and some scares (UK vs. LSU; Bama vs. SC). That said this is when the big boy action starts. The winners of today's game go on to represent their respective universities in the SEC championship game. Three of the four teams are already locks to make it into the tournament. That said if each team was really looking out for the conference they should let Ole Miss just go ahead and win the whole thing, therefore giving the conference even more representation.....sigh. I can still dream.
Today's games really aren't that interesting. Ole Miss needs a win, and Florida wants revenge for the disaster that was their first two meetings with Kentucky, but I'm not seeing that much sunshine for either team.
Still, this tournament hasn't exactly followed a strict script so far.....
Semi's
#1 Kentucky (31-1) vs. #4 Florida (23-9)
Line: Kentucky -9
Preview: As shown in their two previous encounters Kentucky presents too many problems for the Gators. First and foremost is their ability to shut down UF's three star guards. In their two games this season Erving Walker is averaging 4 pts 3ast; Kenny Boynton 12.5 pts 2ast; and Bradley Beale 9.5 pts 6.5 reb 3.5 ast. While those aren't terrible, considering the production those three have had during the season that is a large drop-off. I really don't expect for Florida to go all out here. They're already a lock for the NCAA tournament and losing to the best team in the country really isn't going to hurt your stock too much. I'll take the Wildcats by 12.
#3 Vanderbilt (22-10) vs. #7 Ole Miss (20-12)
Line: Vandy -6.5
Preview: In their previous match-up, the 'Dores did everything they wanted to against Ole Miss. With ease. It was the roughest game I've ever had to watch as an Ole Miss fan. Today's game should be different. This Ole Miss team is on fire and needs this win if they want to have a shot at making the NCAA tournament. I mean NEEDS this win in the worst way. I think they'll get physical with Vanderbilt and make someone other than Taylor win this game. But Vandy will win this game, I'm thinking to the tune of 13.
