Alright guys it was an ok day as far as my picks went. I went 4-2 today in my SEC Men's Basketball Picks losing Miss State @ Alabama as the Bulldogs went cold from behind the arc and the Tide got a tough conference win at home. I also lost Tennessee @ Georgia and I'll be honest in hindsight i should've seen this coming, even though I called for a close game, which the Volunteers have been excelling in, I should've realised that Georgia was at its best when facing ranked teams. As for the other games Vanderbilt won a close one at home against an improving Auburn team 82-74, Ole Miss played a sloppy game against a scrappy under manned LSU team and won 73-63, Kentucky lead by as many as 45 in this one as they coasted to a 101-70 blowout of Arkansas, and last but certainly not least the Gators of Florida won on a last second 3 despite an incredible effort by South Carolina's Devan Downey 58-56. In the NBA I went 7-3 and in the NHL I went 7-5. Alright guys its going to be a slow Sunday as far as other Sports but there are the big NFL Conference games tomorrow. Here are my picks:
NFL
NY Jets @ Colts
2:00pm
CBS
Line: Ind -7
I like the Jets. They play my style of football. Play suffocating defense and have a powerful time controlling run game. But there is one huge difference in this game.....Peyton Manning. Peyton has worked with two previously unknown receivers, Rookie Austin Collie and Pierre Garcon, enough this season that he has utmost trust in them so even though Reggie Wayne is going to be on "Revis Island" and Dallas Clark is going to be shadowed by a safety and hit on the line by a linebacker I still expect Peyton to have a great day finding his OTHER two receivers. And while the Jets have been running over everyone on offense the Colts know they are going to do that and they are going to force Mark Sanchez to win this football game. Mark Sanchez will be the 2nd rookie in as many years to win two road games in the playoffs but lose in the AFC Championship game.
Colts 24-20
Vikings @ Saints
5:40pm
FOX
Line: NO -3.5
Favre vs. Brees. Great storyline. Favre says this is what he came back for. The Vikings have a lot in their favor this weekend. They have won 3 of their last 5 (Saints 2 of last 5), they have a solid run game (13th rush off vs. Saints 21st rush def), and a solid defense (6th in the NFL). But the one thing that is going to make a big difference in this game....is going to be the best homefield advantage in the NFL. No city wants to go to the Super Bowl more than New Orleans and as solid as that Vikings D is they are 19th in the league in Pass Defense. That is no bueno if you are about to face Drew Brees. I think the Saints open up the Vikings' D with the pass than bang them home with their underrated rushing attack. Who Dat nation get ready for Miami.
Saints 28-23
NBA
MAVERICKS @ knicks *good game*
Confidence: +
la clippers @ WIZARDS *good game*

Best player you've never heard of? Toronto's Chris Bosh.. the ever improving Raptors are ready for the Lakers that have been average on the road this season..
LA LAKERS @ toronto *good game*

NHL
Game of the Day
pittsburgh @ PHILADELPHIA *good game*

BOSTON @ carolina *good game*

dallas @ COLORADO
Confidence: +++++
Alright guys hope yall enjoy and let me know what you guys think.
Good points on the NFL games...However, I thought if the Jets could make it to the playoffs, they would win the Super Bowl. Running and defense= time of possesion, and that wins in the playoffs. I have the Vikings on the other side, for no other reason but Brett Favre. What he is doing at his age is unbelievable!!

I agree, like I said that is my favorite style of football and if run right will when you football games anywhere. The problem here is that for the past 2 games the Jets have forced teams to beat them trough the air without their top receiver. Ochocinco and Vincent Sanders were both lost on Revis Island without a decent second recevier and neither team had elite offensive lines. I like both Carson Palmer and Philip Rivers but both pale in comparison to Peyton Manning. Not to mention the Colts Offensive Line is pretty good and they have a few other receivers for the Jets defense to be concerned with.
ReplyDeleteAs for the Vikings, I mean Brett Favre is a great quarterback, one of the greatest all time, but you have to remember this will be game 18 for him and he is 40 years old. The Saints like to blitz a lot and if they get to him or force him to have to move outside of the pocket he'll tire quicker and run out of gas. With the struggles the Saints have had stopping the run at times this year I would just pound Adrian Peterson who, despite his silence at times this season, is still one of the best backs to ever play the game. I still like the Home Field Advantage the Saints are going to be working with. The Saints are just a better football team playing at home.
