Daily SEC Analysis: 9/25

Well guys, I'm trying to be better at remembering to do this on a daily basis again. I'll admit, this is tough. Anyway, what I'm attempting to do now is focus more on media analysis. Does this mean I'm going to quit projecting games? No, not at all. I'm going to have a once a week picks post, that accompanies some smaller news analysis. I'm trimming my focus to the Top-25 and SEC. My initial focus is to do this once a day, but if that has to be shortened, I'll get over it. After all I want to keep this up.

Anyway, if you want to read more, click the jump.

There isn't much going on in SEC news today. The biggest news is that Ole Miss QB Bo Wallace is expected to play Saturday vs. No. 1 Alabama in Tuscaloosa. Wallace was taken out of the Rebel’s 39-0 win over Tulane last Saturday with a bruised shoulder. Junior backup Barry Brunetti came in relief and went 5-7 for 45 yards, while also rushing for 67 yards on 13 attempts.

This is big news for the Rebels as Wallace has accounted for approximately 46 percent of the team's offense. Wallace has started all four games at QB for the Rebels and has completed 64 percent of his passes for 717 yards, 7 touchdowns and 4 interceptions. Wallace is an efficient QB but has struggled as of late, going 20-40 for 279 yards, throwing for just 2 touchdowns and 3 interceptions, though his shoulder was bruised for part of that. He is going to have bring his “A” game Saturday as the Crimson Tide have the seventh best pass efficiency defense in the country, according to Phil Steele. In his first three starts Wallace has only faced the 47th, 48th and 52nd defense.

Bo Wallace will attempt to lead the revamped Rebel offense into Tuscaloosa to face one of the top defenses in the country Saturday.

The Ole Miss offense as a whole is going to have to be on top of their game. They are clearly much improved from a season ago, but have largely been untested. They have faced Central Arkansas, Texas (37th nationally in total defense), UTEP (ranked 96th) and Tulane (ranked 103rd). The Tide bring the 3rd best total defense in the country.

The Rebels are big-time underdogs. If they’re going to have any chance at pulling the upset Wallace is going to need to be healthy and efficient.

In other news, Missouri Head Coach Gary Pinkel is having to answer questions about a potential quarterback controversy brewing in Columbia, as the media is beginning to wonder whether Sophomore James Franklin is the answer at QB.

Franklin, who was injured in the 41-20 loss to East rival Georgia three games ago, did not play in the win against Arizona State, and was largely ineffective vs. South Carolina, throwing for just 92 yards on 18 passes, rushing for just 6 yards. Backup QB Colin Berkstresser hasn’t ‘wowed’ anyone inhis three games on the season, with just 5.8 yards per attempt. However, Franklin isn’t winning, and that is what fans want addressed.

"No changes to Missouri QB position: James Franklin still listed as the starter, Corbin Berkstresser the backup," Ashley Zavala of NBC KOMU-TV tweeted

This is the right move, but how long do you wait for Franklin to emerge before you give Berkstresser a larger role in the offense?
