NBA Roundup

Hey there guys,

Look, I know it has been a hot minute since I have graced your mind with sports wisdom. You are feeling lost, confused and in general don't remember the difference between an NBA three and the Kardashian family.

Fear not. I am back. Rejuvenated. Alive. And in general have too much free time. So I have decided to fill that void in my life with the National Basketball Association and some general college basketball. I do this every Sunday with a radio show with my dear friend, and all-around alcoholic, Addison Moreno. Our show is called the Full Court Press and it airs on 92.1 Rebel Radio right after most church services end at noon.

Hey God watches basketball too. He must be a Spurs fan because I can't figure out why they continue to win year after year when their key players were droppin dimes and dunks during the Bush Sr's administration.

Either way, with my free-time I'm going to do what I call my NBA/FCP roundup. I'll look at back at the games from the previous day, their significance and key players and preview the day's upcoming games. If I happen to miss a day it is because of a long night at work, a test in the morning or because I'm hungover. Tough shit. I'll fill your habit the next morning.

Lastly, I'm a shameless Magic fan. If you're not then that's ok, unless you're a heat fan. Then I wish only the worst things on you and your firstborn.

Anyway, now that the intro is out of the way I'll jump right in.

Wednesday Scores

Hornets 89, Cavaliers 84
If I told you that Antawn Jamis scored 22 and Chris Kaman scored 21, would anybody care?

Thunder 119, Celtics 104
Though the AAR3 combined to score 67, their bench only combined to score 9. As it turns out you can't win like that. Boston, who looked like they were going to turn things around, is now in danger of missing the playoffs altogether.

Kings 115, Wizards 107
General rule of thumb when playing the Kings is to not let their individuals have individually great games. Oh, and when John Wall and Nick Young combined for 38 points and your other three starters combine to score just 12, you aren't going to do well.

Raptors 103, Pistons 93
If I had forgotten to tell you this score, you would have bothered to look it up? Did you even know the game was going on? Did you forget Canada has a basketball team? All of the above? Jokes aside Greg Monroe scored 30 points and nabbed 14 rebounds. I bet he can't wait to leave.

Pacers 102, Bobcats 88
Question: What is the best time for your starters to have an off-night? Answer: When you're playing the Bobcats.

Knicks 99, Hawks 82
If the Knicks play like this the rest of the way out they have a legit shot at an Eastern title. Chandler, Stoudemire and Jeffries played great defensive games in the post, their bench gave them a spark when they needed it and Carmelo played unselfish basketball.

Magic 108, Nets 91
Did anyone else get the feeling Deron Williams (23 points 8asst) was playing to impress Dwight? And that Dwight (20 points 14 reb) was playing to impress the Nets?

Bulls 110, Bucks 91
It's nice to have Derrick Rose back in the lineup. Oh yeah, and it's also nice to out-rebound a team by 20.

Rockets 93, 76ers 87
With their recent play the question is not whether or not the 76ers will be able to hold on to the division lead, but rather when are they going to relinquish it to the Knicks? Their only hope is get Spencer Dawes and Elton Brand bask ASAP.

T-Wolves 100, Jazz 98
With Rubio, Love and Nikola stealing the spotlight I bet it was refreshing for Minny fans to see Luke Ridnour try to remind everyone that he is still on the team. I'm really beginning to believe in Nikola. He's producing in the post amongst some good players.

Warriors 106, Suns 104
It's games like these that I feel bad for stars like Stephen Curry and Steve Nash.

Lakers 96, Mavericks 91
What did this game prove? That the Lakers are for real? That they can still compete with the big boys? Or is it proof that the Mavericks are aging? I mean let's be serious, who allows Derek Fisher to not just score 15 points, but to actually score at all.

Clippers 103, Nuggets 95
CP3 continues to show off every night why he is my favorite player in the game. Also, am I the only one starting to believe that Griffin is finally getting it? He's beginning to crash the boards, and work on his offensive game and as that develops he could go from being just a highlight reel to being truly dominant.

THURSDAY'S GAMES

Knicks (17-17) at Heat 26-7)
Would love to see this as a 7-game series. Knicks have advantage in the post, a scoring threat in Melo, a rising star in Lin and the advantage on the bench. Don't be surprised to see either JR Smith, Baron Davis or Landry Fields have a big game.Is it weird, or am I actually calling for the Knicks to win this game?

Magic (22-12) at Hawks (19-14)
If Atlanta continues to struggle in the post Dwight and Ryan Anderson are going to tear them apart. Especially as Joe Johnsno attempts to play hobbled. I'm going to remain completely biased and pick the Magic.

Spurs (23-10) at Nuggets (18-16)
The Spurs rested their stars in their last game, ending their 10-game winning streak, however Tim Duncan and Tony Parker are back in the lineup tonight against a Nuggets team that has Ty Lawson, Gallinari, Nene and Rudy Fernandez all either expected to be out or hobbled. Spurs continue their impressive old-age run.

Lakers (20-13) at Thunder (26-7)
The them of this game is Durant vs. Kobe. However it is going to be more about Westbrook vs. Kobe. Durant will face off against Matt Barnes, a defensive minded wing man who is known for his ability to draw as much frustration out of his opponents as he does his coach. In the post Gasol and Bynum will face off against the tough trio of Ibaka, Perkins and Collison. This is going to be Westbrook's chance to prove he is really worth the hype. I'm going to take OKC.
